Jo Salter Design portfolio ABOUT contact

With an early background in fine art and education, graphic artist Jo Salter
brings wide ranging experience and INTELLIGENT, INGENIOUS and INNOVATIVE solutions to a wide range of design projects

Every job is different and requires an INDIVIDUAL approach. Jo's design style is smart and friendly and can often feature hand-drawn elements.
Jo's fine art studies focused on a clear understanding of the visual world, how it is perceived and its impact - all factors crucial in design.
Jo's work ranges from flyers to banners, from the functional to fine art design, from print to web, from packaging to logos. He also enjoys illustration where he can make full use of his drawing skills.

An example: A project for Torbay Council called Ageing Well was a runner up for the Arts & Health South West prize for which there were 50 entries.

Jo often works with Encounters-Arts and together they have specialised to some extent on public consultation and making them fun and accessible.

Born Glasgow, studied Dundee (Duncan of Jordanstone) and Aberdeen (Grays). Lived in Western Isles (North Uist) for many years, Spain for 2 and south of the border (Newcastle, Richmond, Sheffield Cornwall and now Devon).

Jo has been involved with 2 exciting art centres: Taigh Chearsabhagh on North Uist where he was a director and out of the blue arts and regeneration trust in Edinburgh where he ran the gallery.
As a visiting tutor for St Ives School of Painting, more recently in Tuscany, Jo paints, draws and teaches most art media. He has a PGCE for Secondary School art and design
